How to select custom upholstery details

Many of our clients know the advantages of choosing custom upholstery for their residential or commercial projects. Customizing shape, design, and adding personalization.  The designers and client that we work with bring many creative ideas and we love working with our recommended upholsterers to bring those ideas to life.

There are some important details that need to be considered when designing your personalized custom furniture.   We offer expert advice to guide our clients through the process of custom upholstery.  Here are our top details we always review with our clients.

Oversized Modern Winged Arm Chair

The height of these oversized winged arm chairs were adjusted so someone with a taller stature would be comfortable lounging or sitting deeply in the chair.

MEASURING FOR FIT

The benefit of custom upholstery is the ability to have the perfect fit. We always visit our client’s home and measure the area planned to fit a new custom upholstered chair, sofa, or kitchen banquette to be sure the size and scale is appropriate for your home.   Even more importantly we check the path into the home for measurements to be sure there are no obstacles or small doorways that would be an obstacle on the day of delivery.

SELECTING FABRICS FOR CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY PIECES

Once a design is finalized the design we offer thousands of top designer fabric and leather options to choose from.  Knowing how your custom upholstery piece will be used can help our designers select the right textile choice.  Once the durability and material selection is understood we select the style to compliment the piece and the home.  Clients no longer have to choose leather for optimal durability there are many soft, durable, and beautiful fabric blends that have the look of linens, cottons, and silks  but offer stain resistant, tear resistant, and even fade resistant technologies.

Custom Chaise Design for Client

CONSIDER THE DETAILS

Small accents can really make an upholstery piece unique.  The DKOR Window and Wall designers select wood finishes, chrome bases, nail heads, casters, and piping details that enhance the style of the upholstery.   Clients enjoy the options available when customizing, although in many cases the details are sourced from inspiration on classic or modern furniture pieces in the home that they may want to compliment.
